Eating healthy is quite important for all of us, but it can be really hard sometimes! I understand that feeling, but small changes can make a big difference to your health.
With time I realize that healthy food can also be delicious. Yes, you heard that right! We don’t just eat with our mouth but with our eyes as well. If a plate of healthy food looks good, I guarantee you will want to eat it.
The science behind that is our brain receives signals from the vision nerves which basically excites our taste buds and makes us feel hungry. Presenting your healthy food in an appealing way will make you want to dig into the plate right away.
I’m sure that many of you think that healthy food is supposed to look boring. But not at all. You simply need to spend an extra few minutes and your plate will actually make you salivate. To help you guys out, I have a few tips to share.
Whenever I make a salad, I always try to use bright colored vegetables as it really makes my plate of food look mouth-watering! Choose red, orange, and dark-green vegetables like tomatoes, sweet potatoes, and broccoli, along with other vegetables for your meals. Add fruit as part of main or side dishes or as dessert. The more colorful you make your plate, the more likely you are to get the vitamins, minerals, and fiber your body needs to be healthy.
Choose a variety of lean protein foods: Meat, poultry, seafood, dry beans or peas, eggs, nuts, and seeds are considered part of the protein foods group.
Make use of modern kitchen utensils. You can find a bunch of vegetable cutters that will help you cut your veggies look appetizing. You can even make pasta out of vegetables. Using the right plates is very important too. This way you will want to dig into your food as soon as it hits the table.
Always arrange or stack your food in a nice pattern. Sprinkle some raw cheese onto a healthy salad or a few chocolate chips on top of a healthy dessert. Garnish, garnish and garnish! It just takes a few seconds so why not?
